The Mapúa Cardinal Singers brought home once more the success for the pride of their Alma Mater. A Silver Award for the Folklore Category, and a Gold Award for the Youth Choir Category.
Last December 12, 2012, they arrived in Hue, Vietnam where the competition is held. On the following day, Dec. 13, they battled Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries for the Folklore Category. It was an outstanding performance that they made with the choral pieces: Ayug Ti Amianan (Scenes from the North) arranged by Fidel Calalang Jr; and the Koyu No Tebulul, a T'boli folk song arranged by Eudenice Palaruan. Then on the next day, Dec. 14, another performance was made for the Youth Choir Category with the repertoire: Psallite Deo nostro in Laetitia by J.S. Bach; Angele Dei arranged by Jed Balsamo; Kalinda by Sydney Guillaume; and Bal-laygi, a victory chant of Ilocanos, arranged by Arwin Tan. The awarding ceremony was held on the last day of the competition, December 15, 2012, wherein MCS was declared Awardees, Silver for Folklore, and Gold for Youth Choir.
There are also other Filipino choirs who joined the competition, The Centro Escolar University Singers Manila, The Iriga City Singing Ambassadors, St. Paul College Pasig High School Chorale, and The Adventist Glee Choir.
Not only that MCS brought home two awards from the recent Vietnam Competition, they also won as Champion from the recent Pasko sa Intramuros:Villancico Competition, held last November 26, 2012 in Teatrillo, San Luis Complex, Intramuros, Manila.
