Mapúa Cardinal Singers,
formerly known as Mapua Concert Singers, is the official resident choir of the Mapúa Institute of Technology, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines. The group is composed of male and female members who are passionately dedicated to the choral art, performing under the baton of Prof. Angelito E. Ayran Jr.
They were invited to join choral festivals in several parts of the country: Harmonies (2004), a choral festival which was sponsored by University of Santo Tomas; National Music Competition for Young Artists (2005 and 2012) both on College Choir Category; The Metro Chorale (2006), sponsored by De La Salle University Chorale; Colors of Worship (2006 and 2008), organized by the Manila Chamber Singers; And annually since 2009 up to present, the group is part of the Mundawit Choral Festival, participated by four choirs: the Mapúa Cardinal Singers, the Sta. Teresita Parish Chorale, the Novo Concertante Manila, and the Hail Mary the Queen Children's Choir.
As a choral group, they also joined several competitions not only within the country, but also in international events which gave them and their alma mater, pride for garnering several awards: two Silver Olympic medals and two Gold Diplomas from categories, Folklore A Capella and Mixed Chamber Choir Category in the 4th World Choir Games, formerly the 4th Choir Olympics, which was held in Xiamen, China in 2006; two Gold Prize Awards from the Mixed Chamber Choir and Folk Categories, to an international choral competition “A Voyage of Song” in Pattaya, Thailand in 2007; First Prize at the 3rd Manila Cathedral-Basilica Pipe Organ Festival Choral Competition in 2008; MBC Paskong Pinoy National Choral Competition last December 2009 and 2010; Won the grand prize in the Greenwich Grand Gig in October 2010; brought home a Gold Award for the Folklore Category, Silver Award for the Youth Category, and a Gold Diploma for Overall Performance in July 2011; declared as Champion for the Pasko sa Intramuros: Villancico Competition and also brought home a Silver and Gold Awards in the Folklore and Youth Choir Categories, respectively, from the 2nd Vietnam International Choir Competition held at Huè, Vietnam, last December 2012; The group garnered another set of awards, two Gold and two Silver awards from the categories Spiritual, Folklore, Mixed Youth and Sacred in the recent Sing n' Joy International Choir Competition held at Manila, Philippines in December 2013. They also won 3 Gold awards from Orientale Concentus VII 2014 held in SOTA, Singapore for categories Chamber, Folklore and Mixed Youth Voices A2 and declared as the Category Winner in Mixed Youth Voices A2. They won another set of awards from the 4th International Choir Competition held in Hội An, Vietnam last April 29 to May 3, 2015 , where they garnered 3 Gold awards from the categories Open Mixed Voices, Sacred and Folklore. The group brought home several awards from the 2016 Asia Cantate in Hong Kong held last November 2016, 3 Gold Awards for categories Chamber Choir, Open Mixed Voices, and Folklore, Category Winner for both Chamber Choir and Open Mixed Voices, Voices of Asia, Jury Prize Award and Grand Prix Finalist. Mapua Cardinal Singers garnered the Silver Prize Award for the Classical Mixed Category in the 13th Busan Choral Festival and Competition last September 6-9, 2017 at Busan, South Korea. They won 4 Gold Awards in the Mixed Youth Choir Category, Musica Sacra Category, Mixed Youth Choir Championship, and Musica Sacra Championship. They are also a category winner for both Mixed Youth Choir Category and Musica Sacra Category, a category champion for the Mixed Youth Choir Championship, and a Grand Prix Finalist at the 7th Bali International Choral Competition held last July 24-29, 2018. Just recently, on October 23, 2021, the group won a silver award in the A Capella Category of the 2021 Busan Choral Festival & Competition.
From here on, the group continues to work for excellence and further accomplishments, carrying with them the name of their Alma Mater and high hopes for distinction and success.
