Mapúa Institute of Technology continues to uphold the tradition of excellence in the international scene, as the Mapúa Cardinal Singers recently won in the 2016 Asia Cantate held in Hong Kong, bagging majority of the awards.
In its debut participation at the Asia Cantate, the Mapúa Cardinal Singers performed in the Mixed Open Category, Chamber Category, and Folklore Category. The group ranked highest in all these three categories, nabbing a Gold Diploma for each. As a Grand Prix Finalist, the group was also crowned Category Champion in the Chamber Choir Category and Open Mixed Category. Additionally, the Cardinal Singers bagged the Jury Prize Award and the Voices of Asia Award, which is granted to the group with the best-performed piece of Asian choral music.
The Asia Cantate is an international choral competition that reflects and bolsters the growing Asian choral culture. The contest seeks to establish and encourage a strong foundation of Asian choral literature and performances.
